What is a Traditional Thai Yoga Massage ?

Thai massage is a unique type of massage that has its roots in ancient healing practices of Thailand. This form of massage has been practiced for centuries and has gained immense popularity all around the world because of its numerous benefits. Thai massage combines elements of yoga, acupressure, and stretching to create a relaxing and rejuvenating experience for the body and mind.

The origins of Thai massage can be traced back to the time of Buddha, over 2,500 years ago. It is said that a famous doctor, Shivago Komarpaj, was the founder of this ancient healing practice. Thai massage was originally developed as a way to heal and prevent ailments in monks and nuns who would often spend long hours meditating in uncomfortable positions. The massage techniques were designed to help release tension in the body and improve circulation, thus promoting better health and well-being.

After Your Massage

After your massage treatment you should:

Drink plenty of water!

This helps to eliminate toxins and lactic acid build up developed during the massage treatment.

Relax

Take it easy for the rest of the day if you should have a nap to reset your body.

Hot Bath

A hot bath after your massage can relieve any aching and soreness that may develop after your treatment. Don't worry as this is short lived whilst the muscles begin to heal.

Avoid

Avoiding alcohol, smoking, caffeine, and fizzy drinks will aid your massage in healing your body. Consuming any of these can slow the healing process and can add toxins to your body.

Maintaining Results

Massages are recommended often, once per week or more. This is especially so for those with fast paced or stressful lives.

To maintain the results

Take a warm bath.

This will help to loosen up your muscles.

Relax and de-stress.

Try listening to relaxing music, burning essential oils etc.

Exercise

Keep moving.

Stand up, walk around and stretch often. Especially if you spend a long time at a desk or computer.
